Welcome to WikiProject Podcasting, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of podcasting. For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject and the Guide to WikiProjects.
Scope
editWikiproject Podcasting is a WikiProject dedicated to making Wikipedia's knowledge of notable podcast and podcast-related information as complete as possible. We're also here to keep Wikipedia's podcasting articles free of WP:NPOV and WP:NOR issues, and ensure that all podcasts meet WP:WEB notability requirements.

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:
|
- Promote the project
- Join this project! Add yourself to the list, and add the userbox to your page, to advertise the project to people who happen to pass by.
- Invite people to the project – drop a note or invite template {{WPPodcasting invite}} on the user talk page of editors working on Podcasting topics who aren't project members.
- Consider promoting the project via the Wikipedia Signpost WikiProject desk.
- Improve the project
- Update the project pages, archive clutter, and make use of the latest automation available
- Consult the WikiProject Guide for ideas
- Come up with new ones
- Use the project
- Monitor discussions on talk pages of articles covered by the project. Recent changes to the project's talk pages
- Create a new article. Or check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Podcasting/New articles and see if these new articles need work such as project tagging or categorising.
- Translate or expand articles from English Wikipedia.
- Expand some of the articles (check out Category:Podcasting stubs or some of its subcategories), always respecting Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View Policy. Also, check the Wikipedia: Manual of Style.
- Add references to articles which need referencing improving. Biographies of living persons are a particular priority.
- Assess some of the Unassessed podcasting articles, using the criteria at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Podcasting/Assessment. Update the project banner on the relevant talk page.
- Check the talk page for requests for help.

Notability
editShows must meet WP:WEB criteria, which covers a broad range of content including webcomics, podcasts, blogs, Internet forums, online magazines and other media, web portals and web hosts. See WP:WEB for full details. Please note that primary sources alone are not sufficient to establish notability—reliable independent third parties must be cited.
A podcast show notability proposal was raised, but did not achieve consensus with the community. An archive is available here. A notability proposal was later raised at WT:NME and was added to the essay with the shortcut WP:NPODCAST. Keep in mind this is still an essay, not a guideline or policy like WP:WEB or WP:N.
Categories
editExisting categories are as follows:
- Category:Podcasting - for broad articles about podcasting in general. Not for shows
- Category:Audio podcasts - for shows that distribute a primarily audio-based feed (includes iTunes enhanced podcasts)
- Category:Video podcasts - for shows that distribute a primarily video-based feed
Shows may use both audio and video categories, provided separate audio and video episodes are available (e.g. a video show should not also use the audio category just because there is audio within the video episode).
