Forgot email
editHello, this is User:WikiOriginal-9. I forgot my password and I don't remember what the email was. I think it started with "mail" followed by random numbers/letters@mail.com. Could someone tell me what it is please? 174.251.209.119 (talk) 19:50, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- Few people have access to email addresses and they aren't revealed for privacy reasons. You can send a temporary password to the address at Special:PasswordReset but you cannot see what the address is. User:WikiOriginal-9 has a large edit count. If you have good evidence it's you then you can try the email address at Help:Logging in#What if I forget my password? and ask to set a new email address for the account. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:33, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your help. I read that section but I don't see any option to change the email. I don't have anything that remembers my Wikipedia account's password nor do do I have a committed identity. 173.80.93.180 (talk) 23:18, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- I meant you could send an email which asks to set a new email address. I don't know their practice but if you have other good evidence than a committed identity then they might evaluate it. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:08, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter: I logged in. I got my password off my old computer. Thanks. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 03:21, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Logging in to Wikilibrary
editThe WL page doesn't appear to explain how to log-in to it. I'm already logged-in as an editor, but the WL is asking for a login. Am I really expected to create a different username/password account just to 'take advantage' of this resource?
There used to be a way to use one user/pw to cover multiple 'accounts'. Didn't see that in 'Global Preferences'. I'm disinclined to have to log-in /log-out twice. Twang (talk) 20:43, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Twang: I had never heard of WikiLibrary until today. Do you mean https://www.wikilibrary.com/ ? This website is nothing to do with the Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia's parent), hence has its own logins. Our single user login feature covers only websites that are directly affiliated to the WMF, such as these. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply.
I was referring to: - Wikipedia:The_Wikipedia_Library
- which is what (I'm assuming) needs to be signed into in order to gain access to a list of paywalled resources.
- In particular, when I went to this page:
- a link at the bottom says to 'Login via Wikipedia'
But then it goes to a page ON wikimedia (NOT via Wikipedia) - When I click that, it loads a page titled 'Log in' located at (beginning of loooooooong URL) 'meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php...'
- and reads in the middle '...Special:
- OAuth/authenticate&returntoquery...'
- which asks for a name and password
- which I might do ONCE IF it's legit. I found no documentation on this step anywhere, so if it's out there, it's well-hidden. Twang (talk) 05:30, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
- There is no single website called Wikimedia. I assume that you refer to meta:, and your login and password there are exactly the same as your login and password here on English Wikipedia. This is becaise of WP:SUL, as I mentioned earlier. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:37, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia suddenly does not want to log me in

I have tried logging in but it is refusing to allow me, instead opting with a strange jumbled word capcha that i have to complete. I have put the right password, I know my right password and have successfully logged in before, but it seems to be obstructing me despite this, saying that i have to try again in 5 minutes 178.152.156.164 (talk) 15:21, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Can't keep me logged in
editI cleared all data on Firefox but I can't stay logged in for one year. Achmad Rachmani (talk) 00:40, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Achmad Rachmani: Please see Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#"Remember me" not working as intended for me. Also, when posting here, you will have been shown a box with the text "This is not the page to ask for help" in big letters. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:34, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
