'Recentism' in the lead
edit@Tamzin and JM2023: There was a minor "when" protest against the lead sentence (introduced by Tamzin)
- In recent years, his direct involvement in the running of the site has decreased considerably.
Now, if we apply article name space standards, on the one hand, the lead should be a brief summary, and thus need not contain details and references provided in the main text. In this case, reading the project page readily answers JM2023's question. On the other hand (and still by article standards), formulations such as recently or in recent years should be avoided, in favour of more precise and durable expressions (which remain valid also years or decades later).
While article and project page standards do differ, I think that following the general rules of thumb for articles work well as regards this specific issue. I therefore rewrite the 'offending' sentence; however, without making it too precise. (The technical answer to the when question perhaps could be said to be "since 23 May 2023"; but the 'devolution of power' has been a stepwise and ongoing process.) I hope that you both find the new formulation acceptable. JoergenB (talk) 16:32, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Fine with me. JM (talk) 22:20, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
