Issue with WP:INDIA Banner tagging

edit

The India Plugin doesn't identify {{WP India}} same as {{WikiProject India}} and unnecessarily add {{WikiProject India}} again. See this. I am using Kingbotk plugin 2.3.2.3 that comes with latest AWB 5.3.1.0 . Request if you could fix this urgently ? -- Tinu Cherian - 08:13, 1 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tinu. I've never used the Kingbotk plugin, but I might be able to help. I've updated the AWB Template Redirect page with a rule to change {{WP India}} to {{WikiProject India}}. Could you please check to see if this fixed the issue? Thanks, and good luck! GoingBatty (talk) 02:30, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I am facing the same issue, is it possible to codify the plugin so that it recognise that {{WP India}} and {{WikiProject India}} are the same template and replace the existing template with the new one, keeping the earlier tags intact and add new workgroups. Please short this out. Amartyabag TALK2ME 11:21, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Skipping missing Talk pages

edit

Hi all! I am trying to use this plugin to add {{WikiProject Romania}} to articles in the scope of WP:ROMANIA. However, many articles, especially templates or other spaces don't have a talk page yet and AWB/plugin will skip those pages, instead of creating an empty page and then adding the template. Is there any setting or workaround for this? Thanks. --Codrin.B (talk) 18:34, 21 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Formatting

edit

Is there a way control the output/formatting of the plugin?

Currently, the plugin generates:

{{WikiProject Romania|class=Template<br\> |importance=NA<br\> }}

And I really want to have it more condensed:

{{WikiProject Romania|class=Template|importance=NA}} Thanks--Codrin.B (talk) 18:47, 21 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Saved generic templates don't get reloaded

edit

Hi. I created two generic templates for the projects I am working on, WP:Dacia and WP:Romania. I saved everything in the settings file (I checked and the settings related to them are in settings.xml). But if I restart AWB, load the settings and them load the Kingbotk/Plugin, they don't show up in the list of templates/plugins anymore. I tried loading the Kingbotk/Plugin and then loading the settings. Same result. Basically the generic templates configs get saved but are never loaded. Looks like a bug to me. Any thoughts? --Codrin.B (talk) 16:50, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Some bugs/improvement requests

edit
  • I've just been using the plugin and I've noticed a couple of issues that I've had to repeatedly manually change. I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the WP:BIO template should go first, then the other projects below - can that order be implemented?
  • Secondly, for the WikiProject Australia page, sport=yes should be sports=yes.
  • Finally, can it detect if there are 3 or more projects listed and wrap it in the banner wrapper? Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 15:36, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • I think is is not the case anymore unless the WPBIO is about a living person.
  •   Done rev 8229 I fixed the sports parameter, fixed some more and added some missing.
  •   Done The banner wrapper is now done by AWB's general fixes but only for banners that use the standard "WikiProject..." naming. In order to fix names to use the "WikiProject..." naming, we provide a custom module at User:Magioladitis/WikiProjects. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Help Please

Ok, I want to tag Unassessed Biography articles, however the biography tab in AWB only shows work groups for Living/Not Living, and Politician, Film Bio, Military, etc.. Bio. The screenshot of the Biography tab in the User Guide is the one I need--Mjs1991 (talk) 12:22, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject Christianity

edit

Hello, would you be willing to put together a plugin for Template:WikiProject Christianity? We have over 10k articles with unassessed importance and/or quality, and many of them need to be assigned subprojects. Thanks. --JFHutson (talk) 05:26, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Plugin loading

"Move or copy the file "Kingbotk AWB Plugin.dll" from the Plugins subfolder into the top AWB folder (the same folder as "AutoWikiBrowser.exe")." -- Is this step [still] required? I can't just load the plugin by navigating to the subfolder, as I did with TypoScan? RiverStyx23{submarinetarget} 02:30, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

RiverStyx23 it is not needed anymore. Copying helps only in auto-loading. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:13, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Add pages to a wikiproject?

edit

I may be thick, but I can't work out if this plugin lets me do what I want. I want to go to the talk pages of all articles in a category, and add them to a wikiproject. Does this let me semiautomate that? If not, is there something else that does? - David Gerard (talk) 20:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

@David Gerard: - This is exactly what this plugin does. See User:Kingbotk/Plugin/User guide#Configuration, it's pretty straight forward but ask again with any more specific questions and I'll try to help! Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 08:15, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I can't make those instructions work, sorry - I can't see how to do step 3. I click on something in the "Plugins" menu and nothing happens. Possibly from using it in Wine - has the Kingbotk plugin ever been known to work in Wine? - David Gerard (talk) 13:40, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Under plugins in AWB (along the top) it should drop down a list that includes 'Add generic template', 'Albums plugin', ..., 'Biography plugin' 'Kingbotk plugin ->' If you can see that, either pick the project you are working with and it should load or click generic template and set that up per the instructions. If those things don't appear in the plugins menu then kingbotk hasn't initialised properly, it is easiest to copy 'Kingbotk AWB Plugin.dll' into the top-directory of AWB. Not sure if I've ever used it in WINE and I don't know enough to say why it should/should not work in it. Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 15:03, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help, btw :-) This time it decided to work more (presumably I clicked the right thing). The template I'm trying to apply is {{WikiProject Industrial}}. I tried setting it up as generic (it uses {{WPBannerMeta}}); I followed User:Kingbotk/Plugin/Generic_WikiProject_templates#My_WikiProject.27s_template_is_generic.2C_how_do_I_configure_the_plugin.3F and entered a bunch of stuff in the "Industrial" tab and hit "Properties", and it has nothing filled in and "Generic Template Plugin is not properly configured". What did I neglect this time? - David Gerard (talk) 17:11, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I can't see what you might have done wrong from what you are saying there, it seems to work for me though [1]Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 10:56, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Problem found! I wasn't putting the template name in braces. AAAAAAAA - David Gerard (talk) 23:39, 22 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Now my problem is: I load up all that stuff. I load up a pile of pages in a category. I hit "start". It skips all of them. What have I missed in the instructions in User:Kingbotk/Plugin/User_guide#Configuration? I'm suspecting I've misunderstood "6. Click the plugin tab. If and only if you are working through a category and/or its subcategories, enter the category name in the box provided. This will be added to the edit summary." The only box I see for a catebory name is the one at far-left under "Make list" - is that the right one? - David Gerard (talk) 23:55, 22 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

The pages in your list need to be talk pages. You can easily do this by loading the pages you want to tag then right-clicking on the list and selecting 'covert to talk pages'.

I think that will be the problem, not sure what step 6 is referring to, possibly an old feature. It would be very helpful if you could re-write the instructions when you have figured it all out. I'm sure editors in the future would appreciate them being clearer and you're in a good position to see the issues with the current instructions! Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 08:43, 23 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Perfect, it worked! Thank you! And I shall :-) - David Gerard (talk) 18:07, 23 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and it works fine under Wine too - David Gerard (talk) 15:55, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Duplicating generic banner

edit

Just started using it for a new WP -- WP:ROMANCE -- and it's adding a duplicate tag to the talk pages after I assess. See this example. The tag is {{WikiProject Romance}}. I also noticed it was inconsistent on adding needs-photo=yes when I checked that box. I've stopped using it for now to avoid being annoying to others :) plange (talk) 17:47, 3 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm experiencing the same problem with WikiProject Devon. There are a lot of articles which have been tagged with low importance, but their quality has not been assessed, so it is duplicating the banner. Has anyone found a solution? I noticed a similar problem happening with India at the top of this page. Jolly Ω Janner 08:52, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Unknown parameter error

edit

Hi, I just started using Kingbotk plugin today and found this error. When this plugin adds film-bio-work-group it shows this message Page using Template:WikiProject Biography with unknown parameter "film-bio-work-group" so I think it should be filmbio-work-group which works perfectly.
