Open tasks

These tasks should be done as often as needed—ideally, on a daily basis.

Assessment

• Monitor the daily assessment log. The main things to look for:
  • Articles being removed. This is usually legitimate (due to merges or non-military articles getting untagged), but is sometimes due to vandalism or broken template code.
  • Articles being moved to "GA-Class" and higher quality. These ratings need to correspond to the article's status in the GA and FA lists or the A-Class project review.
• Deal with any new assessment requests and the backlog of unassessed articles.

Peer review

• For each new peer review request:
  1. Add the review to the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template.
  2. Leave a note on the main project talk page, using the following boilerplate: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Coordinators/Toolbox/Peer review notice|Name of article}} ~~~~
  3. Leave a note with each appropriate task force or contact (if any), using the following boilerplate: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Coordinators/Toolbox/Peer review notice|Name of article}} ~~~~
  4. Leave a note with each editor actively involved with the article, using the following boilerplate: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Coordinators/Toolbox/Peer review personal notice|Name of article}} ~~~~
• For each peer review that has been archived:
  1. Remove the review from the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template.

A-Class review

• For each new A-Class review request:
  1. Add the review to the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template.

• For each ongoing A-Class review:
  1. If a review has been open for two days without at least three editors commenting, leave a reminder note on the main project talk page, using the following boilerplate: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Coordinators/Toolbox/A-Class review alert|Name of article}} ~~~~
  2. If a review has been open for four days, close and archive it.
• For each A-Class review that has been archived:
  1. Remove the review from the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template.
  2. If the article was promoted to A-Class (or demoted from it), add it to (or remove it from) the project showcase.

Featured content

• For each new featured article candidacy, featured article review, featured list candidacy, featured portal candidacy, and featured topic candidacy:
  1. Add the candidacy or review to the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template and the corresponding section in the review department.
• For each concluded featured article candidacy, featured article review, featured list candidacy, featured portal candidacy, and featured topic candidacy:
  1. Remove the candidacy or review from the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} template and the corresponding section in the review department.
  2. If the article, list, portal, or topic was promoted to featured status (or demoted from it), add it to (or remove it from) the project showcase.

Other

• Welcome anybody who joins the project, using the following boilerplate: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Outreach/Welcome|~~~~}}
• Monitor and vote on the Contest.
• Update Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Outreach/Newsletter November 2024 with new developments within the project.

Instructions

Creating a new task force

N.B.: Creating a task force involves a great deal of work, and is very time-consuming to reverse if an inappropriate or misnamed group is created. It is generally inadvisable to create task forces without prior discussion—particularly regarding the name and scope—on the project's main talk page. Before a task force can be created, it is necessary to decide on a name for it. The process requires both a full name (e.g. "French military history" or "American Civil War") and a one- or two-word or acronym shorthand used for some template parameters (e.g. "French" or "ACW"). The instructions below use the "Fooish military history" task force (shortened to "Fooish") as an example; when creating an actual task force, remember to substitute the correct name, rather than actually creating the example pages. Create the task force page: Create the main task force page (Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Fooish task force) with {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Coordinators/Toolbox/Task force boilerplate|Fooish}} as the content. Fill in the "Scope" section on the new task force page. Create the task force talk page (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Fooish task force) with {{WPAVIATION Navigation}} as the content. Add support for the task force to {{WPAVIATION}}: Select an image to use as the task force icon. The image should be recognizable at a small size and reasonably representative of the topic of the task force. Add the task force display code (shown below) to the task force section of {{WPAVIATION}}, in correct position among the task force parameters. Set up the task force's open tasks listing: Create the task force's open task template ({{WPAVIATION Announcements/Fooish}}) using the syntax shown on {{WPAVIATION Announcements/Task force}} as the content. At a minimum, the name= parameter must be set to "Fooish"; optionally, some initial tasks should be located and added to the listing. Add the new template to the "Task force lists" section of {{WPAVIATION Announcements}}; the column break should be moved, if necessary, to keep the two columns properly aligned. Add the task force to the "Aviation" section of the WikiProject directory; add cross-reference links to any other sections into which the task force falls.

I noticed a novice editor User:DAFMM has declared himself a project coordinator without any experience (zero edits) in aviation articles! Do we need any checks and balances? MilborneOne (talk) 20:09, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Just stumbled on this page, I notice the engine task force has no co-ordinator, I'm happy to add my name if there are no objections, I have been maintaining the task force pages for several years. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 22:13, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Help needed

Andrewgprout is reverting edits from Chandigarh - Vistara operates UK707 using A321N IXC-DEL-CCU with same aircraft, same flight number and pax does not disembark from plane. That is direct route via DEL. I have made attempt to chat with him on his chat page and he didn’t cared about and still reverted the edits and in the past he has got several warning for edits. I want to report this user. I dont know how I can. Admin please help and look into this matter. Please check the article if the edit that user made is correct or not. Chandigarh Airport - Airlines and Destinations - Vistara - It operates direct flight from Chandigarh to Kolkata via Delhi without changing anything as UK 707 and even airline’s website mentions the same. 649pardeep (talk) 23:53, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
