African cinema task force
An African cinema task force has been proposed at WikiProject Films, which would include the cinema of Senegal. Interested editors are encouraged to sign up - if there is enough interest, then the task force will be created! Many thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 03:53, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:31, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Portal: Senegal
Hello, I'm Wiki User 68 Blah Stuff I've noticed the Senegal Portal needs additional content and is in need of re-working. I'm a member of various WikiProjects and know all too well how stretched man-power (and woman! ;-/) can be. I don't know if anyone has the Portal as a responsibility. I'm not one for treading on peoples toes. If the Project members would like me to re-do the Portal I'd be more than happy to.
You can see an example of my work at Portal:Cape Verde of which I'm a member as well as a member of Africa and other African nations(and their Portals). Primarily the Box-Template needs completely re-working at code level. If you examine the code of P:CV and the Senegal code you'll instantly realise the mistake that's been made. It's a quick process to fix and I can keep the existing content and add the missing content at the sametime. I hope my offer is of use to you Guys. Wiki User 68 Blah Stuff 21:12, 04 March 2009 (UTC)
This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.
Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Proposal for a 200-WikiProject contest
A proposal has been posted for a contest between all 200 country WikiProjects. We're looking for judges, coordinators, ideas, and feedback.
Wolof Language article error
the article Wolof Language have a big error about the Wolof speakers, it says: Total speakers = 3.2 million (mother tongue)speakers, 3.5 million (second language) [1], that's not true because in Senegal about 80% of the population speak wolof fluently, and Senegalese population are 12million, without Gambia wolof people, and Mauritania.... you may check it immediately, thanks for you understanding —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.207.229.253 (talk) 02:20, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:53, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced living people articles bot
User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project. There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.
The unreferenced articles related to your project can be found at >>>Wikipedia:WikiProject Senegal/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs<<<
If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.
Thank you.
- Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Senegal/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
- There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
- If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 23:35, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Senegal articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Senegal articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

WikiProject cleanup listing
I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). See the tool's wiki page, this project's listing in one big table or by categories and the index of WikiProjects. Svick (talk) 20:43, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Lots of statistics of the country

I noticed that the article Laman Jegan Joof is up for deletion and thought it might be of intertest to somebody here. The article says it's about an "eleventh century Serer noble" who's descendents ruled the Serer kingdoms of Sine and Saloum. Cloveapple (talk) 00:56, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Niominka
The page on the Niominka of Senegal was recently moved by an editor to a new title "Serer-Niominka". I have petitioned to have it moved back to its original title. I would like to invite editors here for input. Walrasiad (talk) 06:41, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Serer people task force
Hi editors, In the past couple of months, I have translated and authored many articles relating to Serer people and their history. I have also organized many of them, see Category:Serer people and Portal:Serer which is under construction. I would like to propose a task force relating to Serer people and would appreciate the advise of members. The problem is, at present, it would appear that I am one of few editors active on Serer related articles as many of the former editors have left. That is a big problem. Any advise and recommendations would be appreciated thanks. Tamsier (talk) 17:54, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Looking for help
Hi! The WikiAfrica and Share Your Knowledge teams are glad to announce that many "African" pictures are being published on Commons, either donated by international institutions or by single photographers. You can help: please see the list of categories here, then you can either add relevant categories to the pictures or place them in relevant articles in your favourite Wikipedia. Contents are mainly about, but not limited to, Senegal, Ethiopia, Mali, Tanzania. Thanks a lot! --Elitre (talk) 13:48, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I updated the list, there are many new images waiting for Wikipedia articles to host them. Who's willing to help? --Elitre (talk) 13:53, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Health in Senegal
I propose to modify the existing Wikipedia article on “Health in Senegal.” My aim is to provide users across the world, and particularly those in the Western world, a more developed perspective on health issues in Senegal as they pertain to public healthcare, health crises, and particularly women and children’s health. I also plan to provide concrete examples of current healthcare issues in Senegal that are being combated. The wellbeing of Senegalese people has far-reaching implication for success in their many realms of life, including education, careers, family, and broader human capabilities. Providing the proper healthcare resources, particularly to women and children, and across socio-economic classes, can level healthcare coverage and open up capabilities to those who are especially deprived. This article, once revised, will give the public, and the Western world, a better understanding of the current health situation in Senegal, how it has evolved, what is currently being done, and why focusing in health in Senegal is so crucial to the millions of Senegalese people and people throughout the world. I ask for your feedback and suggestions as I pursue this article. I will be drawing on theoretical work pertaining to human development, such as Poor Economics and Creating Capabilities but I ask for suggestions on academic articles that may be useful. Heidimkahle (talk) 05:48, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride 2014, a campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia and its sister projects. The campaign will take place throughout the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. Meetups are being held in some cities, or you can participate remotely. All constructive edits are welcome in order to contribute to Wikipedia's mission of providing quality, accurate information. Articles within Category:LGBT in Africa may be of particular interest. You can also upload LGBT-related images by participating in Wikimedia Commons' LGBT-related photo challenge. You are encouraged to share the results of your work here. Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Expert attention
This is a notice about Category:Senegal articles needing expert attention, which might be of interest to your WikiProject. It will take a while before the category is populated. Iceblock (talk) 20:13, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.
Media upload of images from Guinea-Bissau and Senegal
Dear project members,
I would like to draw your attention to a media upload that may be of relevance to your project. The African Studies Center, Leiden University, donated 756 images made by Roel Coutinho, a Dutch MD working in Guinea-Bissau and Senegal between 1973 and 1974. The images show aspects of daily life such as food preparation, festivities and school and hospital buildings, among other things. The metadata (including Portuguese captions) were prepared by Michele Portatadino, the upload was done by Hans Muller using the GWToolset.
Kind regards, --AWossink (talk) 12:03, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
Contests
User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. Would anybody here be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:03, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:55, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
