The 1864 Maine gubernatorial election was held on 12 September 1864 in order to elect the Governor of Maine. Incumbent Republican Governor Samuel Cony won re-election against Democratic nominee and former Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Joseph Howard.[1]

editOn election day, 12 September 1864, incumbent Republican Governor Samuel Cony won re-election by a margin of 19,180 votes against his opponent Democratic nominee Joseph Howard, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of governor. Cony was sworn in for his second term on 2 January 1865.[2]
