2019 Majayjay local elections

Local elections were held in Majayjay on Monday, May 13, 2019, as a part of the 2019 Philippine general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town Mayor, Vice Mayor and town Councilors, as well as Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, a Governor, a Vice Governor and a Representative for the province's fourth congressional district to the House of Representatives. Those elected took their respective offices on June 30, 2019, for a three-year-long term. 15,648 of 19,320 registered voters voted in this election.[1]

These Slates usually run with their respective Mayoral and Vice Mayoral candidates along with the other members of their slate. A group of candidates Independent of any Mayoral or Vice Mayoral candidate may also form a slate consisting of themselves.[2]

Mayoralty election

The incumbent Mayor is Carlo Invinzor Clado, who was elected in 2016 election with 27.15% (3,848 votes) of the total votes counted.[3]

Clado is running for his second consecutive term. He run under the banner of the PDP–Laban, his sole opponent is the incumbent Vice Mayor Eulogio Wilson Amorado, running under the Nacionalista Party.

Vice Mayoralty election

The incumbent Vice Mayor is Eulogio Wilson Amorado who was elected in 2016 election with 40.13% (5,446 votes) of the total votes counted.[3]

Amorado is not running for a second term, and instead running for Mayor. His Party nominated, former Vice Mayor Lauro Mentilla, running under the Nacionalista Party. His sole opponent is incumbent Councilor Edison Reyes, running under PDP–Laban. Reyes is the running-mate of the incumbent Mayor Clado.

Mentilla win his comeback in politics, winning in a slim-margin over Reyes. Mentilla garnered 51.72% of the total votes counted over Reyes' 48.28%.[1]

Municipal Council election

The Majayjay Municipal Council is composed of eight Councilor's, elected to serve three-year term. The election for the council is done via multiple non-transferable vote in which a voter has eight votes to distribute to eight different candidates. The eight candidates with the most votes will be elected to the council.[1][4]
