On Friday 17 May 2024, Charlton announced their first pre-season friendly against Dartford.[49] On Wednesday 5 June 2024, Charlton announced their second pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon.[50] On 1 July 2024, Charlton announced their third and fourth pre-season friendlies against Göztepe - which would take place during their training camp in Slovenia - as well as a home match against Portsmouth.[51] On Thursday 4 July 2024, Charlton announced their fifth and sixth pre-seasons matches against Millwall and Crystal Palace which would both be played behind closed doors.[52]

The regional group stage draw was confirmed on Monday 24 June 2024 and saw Charlton Athletic placed in Southern Group C, alongside Bromley and Cambridge United.[65] On Thursday 27 June 2024, it was confirmed that the final team in the group would be Chelsea U21.[66] On Friday 26 July 2024, the dates for the group stage fixtures were confirmed.[67] On Friday 22 November 2024, the second round draw was made.[68] On Wednesday 27 November 2024, the date for the second round tie was announced.[69]
