On March 23, 2024, the Somali Armed Forces base of Busley in Lower Shabelle was attacked by Al-Shabaab insurgents killing 57 soldiers and ten insurgents[1]

Following an intense shootout with security forces, Al Shabaab fighters were able to capture the base temporarily until it was recaptured soon after.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
