The 2024 TCR World Ranking Final is an automobile racing event that is planned to take place in 2024 at the Algarve Circuit in Portimao, Portugal. The entries will consist of the top 15 drivers in the 2023 TCR World Tour and the top 45 drivers as listed by the TCR World Ranking (not including those already in the top 15 of the TCR World Tour).[1] In total, 60 drivers are planned to compete over the course of the event.
The Algarve circuit was announced as the host for the final on 16 October 2023.[2] On 26 January 2024, it was announced that the inaugural TCR World Ranking Final was placed on hold.[3]
Top 15 drivers in the 2023 TCR World Tour and next best 45 drivers in TCR World Ranking list of 4 October 2023 qualifies for the event, with further 20 drivers in the Ranking and up to 30 Wild Card drivers included in reserves list.[1]
World Ranking position shown are from list of 4 October 2023 for TCR World Ranking qualifiers and reserves, and from list of 13 November 2023 for TCR World Tour qualifiers and Wild Card drivers.
The 45 drivers entering by TCR World Ranking will be split by a draw into 3 groups of 15 drivers (A, B, and C).
Each group will have their own free practice and qualifying session.
There will be three races, each race consisting of combination of two groups (A v B, B v C, C v A). Races will be 20 minutes + 1 lap. Grid for each race will be set based on qualifying, with the group having the fastest qualifier taking odd-numbered places, and the other group taking the even-numbered places.
Top 15 in classification after three races will advance to the Qualifying Race of Final Races. The rest will go to the Repechage Race.
Top 15 drivers of the TCR World Tour directly enter this phase. They will have their own free practice and qualifying sessions.
Qualifying Race: 15 TCR World Tour drivers are joined by the top 15 of Play-Off Races for one race of 20 minutes + 1 lap. Grid will be set with odd-numbered places taken by TCR World Tour drivers according to the result of their qualifying session, and the even-numbered places taken by Play-Off Races drivers according to their Play-Off classification. Result of this race determine the grid for the Final Race.
Repechage Race: Bottom 30 drivers of the Play-Off Races will race for 15 minutes + 1 lap. Grid will be based on Play-Off classification. Top 4 of this race will join the Final Race, starting from position 31 to 34.
^ abDmitry Bragin and TAIF Motorsport / AG Team are Russian, but they compete as neutral competitors as Russian national emblems were banned by the following FIA due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
