2025 Philippine local elections in the Bicol Region

The 2025 Philippine local elections in the Bicol Region are scheduled to be held on May 12, 2025.

Albay

edit

Governor of Albay

edit

Incumbent Edcel Greco Lagman (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas) was initially running for a first full term. However, Lagman withdrew his candidacy on December 5, 2024, and endorsed Noel Rosal (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino), his predecessor, for governor. Lagman became governor under Aksyon Demokratiko on December 1, 2022, after Rosal had his election as governor in 2022 nullified by the Commission on Elections for violating a public spending ban during the election. Prior to becoming governor, Lagman was vice governor of Albay.

On October 18, 2024, Lagman was placed under preventive suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman over graft and corruption charges. Glenda Bongao (Liberal Party), the incumbent vice governor, took over as acting governor.

Prior to becoming vice governor, Bongao was a member of the Albay Provincial Board for the 1st provincial district.

On October 18, 2024, Bongao became acting governor after Governor Lagman was placed under preventive suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman over graft and corruption charges.
