2026 FIFA World Cup knockout stage

The knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the second and final stage of the competition, following the group stage. Played from June 28 to July 19, the knockout stage will end with the final, held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.[1][2][3] The top two teams from each group and eight best third-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination tournament. There will be 32 matches in the knockout stage, including a third place playoff played between the two losing teams in the semifinals.[4][5]
