The 44 VA Hospital/Orange Station-Newark Penn Station is a bus route operated by New Jersey Transit]] in the U.S. states of New Jersey. Buses head north from VA Hospital/Orange Station, in Orange along RR Place At Essex Avenue/South Day Street, Main Street, Tremont Avenue, Scotland Road, Sanford Avenue, Rhode Island Ave, Freeman Ave, Central Ave, and University Ave to Newark Penn Station in Newark via Orange, Newark and Newark Penn Station/Newark PATH Station.

5794 on Route 44 to Orange Rail Station Via Tremont & VA Hospital running on Raymond Blvd in Newark.

6528 on Route 44 before the route was discontinued by Coach USA ONE Bus on October 8, 2023.

History

It was originally Transport of New Jersey, later it was transferred to Coach USA ONE Bus. It was operated by Coach USA ONE Bus until October 8, 2023. New Jersey Transit took over operations of the route with the same direction and same route number sending the route to be assigned to Big Tree Garage.

Coach USA History

For it's entire life, the 44 was running under Coach USA ONE Bus operations. It was originally under NJ Transit operation, evening buses used to terminate at Erie Loop instead of Orange Rail Station; this routing ceased when Orange-Newark-Elizabeth (ONE Bus) Bus Company took over the route.
