Foundation

edit

In July 2012, Nakoula Basseley released an anti-Islamic short film Innocence of Muslims under the titles "The Real Life of Muhammad" and "Muhammad Movie Trailer".[4] Videos dubbed in Arabic were uploaded during early September 2012.[5]

So there was a strong reaction from Muslims against this film. In many countries, there were protests against it. Similarly, in Europe, a protest was held in front of the Parliament of London, led by Pir Alauddin Siddiqui.[6][3]

Purpose

edit

The aim and the purpose of this movement was to make a law at the international level, especially in the European Union, to protect the honor of the founders of all religions, especially Muhammad. Anyone who insults a Prophet should be punished by obeying this law.[7]

October 2012 Protest

edit

Alauddin Siddiqui called for a protest outside Parliament of London on October 6, 2012 to express his outrage at the recent film Innocence of Muslims, which was described as insulting the dignity of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He appealed to the Muslim Ummah to end their internal differences and unit.

Cases

edit

Case in the London High Court: Following protest movements and demands made to the authorities, the movement, under the patronage of Alauddin Siddiqui, submitted a case concerning Tahafuz Namoos-e-Anbiya (the protection of the honor of the Prophets) to the London High Court.[8][7]

Case in the European Court: movement, under the supervision of Alauddin Siddiqui, prepared a petition signed by 200,000 Muslims. Siddiqui led a delegation to an important meeting in the European Parliament, where he presented the concerns and demands of the Muslim community, advocating for the protection of the sanctity of the Prophets.[9][9]

Alauddin Siddiqui, the leader of the movement, passed away in 2017. Shortly after his death, the European Parliament issued a decision declaring blasphemy against the Prophets, under the pretext of freedom of expression, a criminal offense.[10]

The European Court of Human Rights says that defaming the Prophet Muhammad is not free expression,[11] as such defamation could stir up prejudice and risk religious peace.[12]

Alauddin Siddiqui with the members of the movement visited Belgium to discuss the matter and submitting the case to the International Court of Justice.[13]
