Abbas Kamandi (Kurdish: عەباس کەمەندی; January 1, 1952 – May 21, 2014) was a Kurdish singer, songwriter, poet, writer, painter, and film director.[1][2][3][4] He won his first writing award for the best story at the age of 18.[5]

He was born in Sanandaj and was the son of Ali Kamandi. He died at 62. Kamandi's music was popular and celebrated in Kurdish culture. He is remembered for his traditional songs and for advocating for Kurdish music.[6]
