Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari was a scholar and the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives from 2008 to 2012.[1] Majeed died on 22 May, 2018, in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the age of 55.[2][3]

He was the first Maldivian to earn a Philosophy of Doctorate in Quran Tafseer.[2]
Majeed served as the Minister of Islamic Affairs during the administration of President Mohamed Nasheed and was the first president of the Centre for Quran Studies established by former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.[2][4]
