Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria

The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) is a Nigerian government agency coordinating and monitoring agricultural research to increase agricultural productivity for economic development.[1][2] The agency also trains farmers.[3] In 2021, the agency inaugurated Agricultural Radio and Television to disseminate information to farmers more effectively.[4]

Activities

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Professor Garba Hamidu Sharubutu, represents Nigeria on the Board of Trustees of the African Agricultural Technology Foundation, an organization that works towards promoting food security prospects in the continent through agricultural technology and giving support to farmers and governments Sub-Saharan Africa to easily access tools and resources that will give them the needed competitive edge in the 21st century agriculture markets.[5][6]

Transformation

The federal government have announces the transformation of the agric research council of Nigeria and all it affiliation,it is made known by the minister of agriculture.[7]

Recruit

in January 2024 New scientist joined Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) joined the service of the agric council in other to make more research on food security and make more research in other to reduced food scarcity in the country.[8][9]

Mature crop production

The secretary of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) have urge the federal government to work more on the production of quick mature crop in other to facilitate the product of food and reduce food scarcity.[10]
