Alejo Igoa (born 23 August 1996) is an Argentine YouTuber. He is the most-subscribed Spanish-language creator on YouTube, with more than 121 million subscribers.

In March 2026, Igoa was recognized by Guinness World Records with two records: most subscribers for a Spanish-language channel on YouTube[1] and most subscribers for a Spanish-language entertainment channel on YouTube.[2]

That same year, he performed El Show de Alejo Igoa at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, drawing more than 70,000 attendees across seven sold-out shows.[3]

He has the 11th-most-subscribed YouTube channel worldwide.[4]

Early life and education

Igoa was born on 23 August 1996 in Posadas, Misiones.[5][6] His father Sergio was a rector of an agricultural school and his mother Gabriela was a biology teacher.[7] He grew up in a middle-class household in Concepción de la Sierra with his older brother Joaquín and younger sisters Paloma and Malena.[7] At school, he was introverted and bullied.[7] Igoa stated that spending his time frequently alone helped him to learn how to edit videos, design and use programs.[7]

He studied architecture at the National University of Rosario for a year before dropping out.[8] According to Igoa, when he told his parents he wanted to drop out after having achieved good grades, "they almost died".[7] He sought employment to cover his living expenses but did not receive any job offers.[7]

Career

Igoa moved to Buenos Aires, using his savings to pay for two months' rent in a studio apartment.[9] He created his YouTube channel in 2014, uploading his first video Solo Se Vos Mismo (lit. 'Just Be Yourself') after having received a camera as a birthday present from his parents.[7] He was inspired by YouTubers from other countries, especially from the United States.[7]

In April 2015, he participated in the first edition of the Club Media Fest in Buenos Aires, at which point his channel had reached 200,000 subscribers.[10] That same year, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism provided him with a week long trip to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to promote the country's tourism.[7] Leonardo Torresi of Clarín reported in December 2015 that Igoa's book Swag along with Juanito Say's Freak Book were the first books to be published by Argentine YouTubers.[8] The name Swag originated from a viral video of his titled Mi Hermanita Tiene Swag (lit. 'My Little Sister Has Swag').[8] Torresi noted that Igoa referred to his fans as "Igoístas" in his Twitter bio, and according to Igoa, about 70% of the attendees at his events are female.[8]

Igoa received a nomination in the "Digital Revelation" category at the 2016 Nickelodeon Argentina Kids' Choice Awards and made a brief appearance on the Nickelodeon show Kally's Mashup.[11][5] To expand his international audience, Igoa moved to Mexico City at the end of 2017, where he lived for five months.[6][7] He then briefly lived in Bogotá, Colombia, before returning to Argentina and performing in the play YouMusicaLive at the Teatro Opera in July 2018.[7][6]

At the 2019 Martín Fierro Awards, he won in the Best YouTuber of the Year category.[12] In 2022, he received the Diamond Play Button and won the Digital Leader award at the Eliot Awards.[5] At the 2023 Martín Fierro Awards, he again won in the Best YouTuber of the Year category.[13] In December 2023, he became the first Argentine YouTuber to surpass 30 million subscribers.[14] In 2025, he became the most-subscribed to Spanish-speaking YouTuber.[5]

In April 2026, Igoa performed El Show de Alejo Igoa at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, where more than 70,000 people attended seven sold-out performances.[15][16] During one of the shows, he was presented with two Guinness World Records: most subscribers for a Spanish-language channel on YouTube and most subscribers for a Spanish-language entertainment channel on YouTube.[17][18]

As of May 2026, Igoa is the most-subscribed Spanish-language creator on YouTube and one of the most-subscribed YouTube channels worldwide.[19][20]

Personal life

He came out as gay in a video uploaded on his channel on 7 October 2016.[21] In 2018, he met his partner Asbel Nazar, a Venezuelan executive of a digital marketing and talent management company, whilst living in Mexico.[9][22] Nazar has since also created a YouTube channel.[22]

Igoa is vegetarian.[7]
