Arčelca (pronounced [aɾˈtʃeːu̯tsa], in older sources Arčevce,[2][3][4] German: Artschenza[2][3]) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Trebnje in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.[5]

Name
editArčelca was attested in historical sources as Ruczebitz and Rudczebicz in 1463, and Rutschewicz in 1467.[6]
Church
editThe local church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene and belongs to the Parish of Sela pri Šumberku. It is a medieval building that was greatly remodelled in the Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century.[7]
