Ecology
editAriopelta capensis serves as the second intermediate host for a parasite, the brachylaimid trematode Renylaima capensis.[1] Unencysted metacercariae, usually brevicaudate, infect the kidney of Ariopelta capensis and differ from mature cercariae by only a slightly greater size.[1]
