Arthur Gervais (born 28 February 2000) is a French middle- and long-distance runner. He won the 5000 metres at the World University Games.[1]
Biography
[edit]From Villeneuve-d'Ascq, and trained by Olivier Rock at Villeneuve d'Ascq Fretin Athlétisme (VAFA), Gervais won French junior outdoor and indoor titles in 2019. He won the French under-23 championships and placed third over 1500 metres at the senior French Indoor Athletics Championships the following year. In 2021, he again won the French under-23 indoor title. In 2022, he broke his personal bests with a time of 3:41.68 for the 1500 metres and 8:03.09 for the 3000 metres.[2][3] He was then runner-up in 8:00.44 for the 3000 metres at the 2022 French Indoor Championships.[4]
Gervais placed third over 1500 metres at the 2023 French Athletics Championships in Albi.[5][6] Gervais won the gold medal over 5000 metres at the World University Games in Bochum, Germany, winning ahead of David Mullarkey of Great Britain.[7][8]
