The fight was originally scheduled for 1 June, but an injury to Beterbiev forced him to withdraw from the fight on 3 May.[2][3][4]

With scores of 114–114, 115–113 and 116–112, Beterbiev would win by majority decision and became the division's first undisputed champion since 2002, and the first ever in the four-belt era.[5][6]

Speaking afterwards Beterbiev said "I feel not bad. I did not good today. I wanted to box with more quality."[7]
