Awaiba Mapu is a 2022 Manipuri film written and produced by Ranjit Ningthouja and directed by Khoibam Homeshwori, under the banner of Home Films Manipur.[1] It stars Bonium Thokchom and Sonia Samjetsabam in the lead roles. The film was released at Manipur State Film Development Corporation (MSFDS) on 3 July 2022.[2] Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified the film in 2021 but was released in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]

Synopsis
editIbothoi is employed by Ichaton's father as his driver, seeing his honest nature. The latter even gives assent to Ibothoi to be his son-in-law and inherit his property. This is in sharp contrast to Ichaton who is in love with Diamond. Ibothoi and Ichaton gets married but he is ill-treated by his wife. He tries all means to hide this in front of his in-laws. But when all the courage is lost, Ibothoi left their house. Meanwhile, Diamond turns out to be an ill-mannered guy. Ichathoi realises the true nature of Ibothoi and starts searching for him.

Soundtrack
editSorri Senjam composed the soundtrack for the film and Romi Meitei wrote the lyrics. The song is titled Wakhalgee.[5] The video of the song in the film is directed by Ajit Ningthouja. Pushparani Huidrom sung the female version of the song.[6]
