Barbara Lenz (born 12 February 1955) is a German geographer, transport researcher, and mobility expert. She headed the Institute for Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center until 2021.[1]

Career
editBarbara Lenz studied geography and German at the University of Stuttgart. She began training to become a secondary school teacher at the State Seminar ‖ in Stuttgart in 1986. After Lenz had worked for a year as a secondary school teacher at the Merz private school in Stuttgart, she began working as a research assistant at the Geographical Institute of the University of Stuttgart,
From 1993 to 2001, she also worked at the Geographical Institute as a research assistant in research and teaching. In 2001, Lenz completed her habilitation at the Faculty of Geosciences and Biosciences at the University of Stuttgart on the topic of “Functional differentiation and spatial arrangement of flower and ornamental plant production companies – an economic geographical study based on the Filière concept”.
Barbara Lenz is head of the working group "Alternative drives and fuels for sustainable mobility" (AG-2) of the National Platform for the Future of Mobility .[3][4]
