Before the battle
editIn 1517, Div sultan, had won over the Bayburt Governor of the Ottomans, Mirza Mehmed Beg, son of Kızıl Ahmed. As it is known, the Georgian prince Manuchohr, who was defeated by Div sultan in 1516 and took refuge with the Ottomans, received support from the Ottoman state and in 1517 came to Meskhi province (Samtsxhe-Saatabago) with the Ottoman army led by Kızıl Ahmed Beg.[1]
Battle
editThe ruler of Imereti returned from the Ottoman Empire with a Turkish army and began to plunder the possessions of Kvarkvare again. In the battle that took place in Dabil, the Kizilbash defeated the Ottoman army, the Ottoman commander was killed, and the ruler of Imereti managed to save his life by fleeing to the mountains.[2]
