Benet McLean is a British jazz violin and piano virtuoso and singer.
Life
editBenet was regarded as a child prodigy and attended the Purcell School for Young Musicians on a scholarship.[1] He was mentored by Yehudi Menuhin.[2][3][4]
He has performed at the London Jazz Festival [5] and has collaborated with Partikel, Nightmares on Wax, Laura Mvula and Mahalia, Andy Davies, Benjamin Croft, Omar, Julian Joseph,[6] Sir Simon Rattle, Dave O’Higgins,[7] TY, Steve Williamson,[8] Jean Toussaint,[9] Tommy Smith, Cleveland Watkiss,[10] Yellow Station Blue, Phillip Bent, Orphy Robinson, Kevin Haynes,[11] Roachford, Maxi Jazz (Faithless) and Loose Tubes.[12]
Benet also teaches and is a professor of jazz violin at the London School of Musical Theatre (LPMAM).[13]
