History
editBlacksher is likely named for Jeptha Blacksher, who served as the first postmaster.[2] A post office operated under the name Blacksher from 1889 to 1950.[3] Jeptha Blacksher was the brother of James Uriah Blacksher, who was the namesake of Uriah, Alabama.[4] Blacksher was once home to six general stores and a naval store.[5] Baldwin County formerly operated a clinic in Blacksher.[6]
The Blacksher Oil Field is named for the community.[7]
