Bluebird International

Bluebird International is a midsize Hungarian private information technology staffing and software development company headquartered in Budapest with offices in Dublin (Ireland), Miami (USA), and Vienna (Austria). Bluebird International was founded in 2001[1][2] by Balazs Refi, an IT project manager and business analyst.[3] The Budapest headquartered company has hundreds of clients including several Fortune 500 companies[4] and is known for its labour market survey and tech market research in Hungary.[5][6][7][8][9][10] In January 2024 the founding CEO Balazs Refi was replaced by Viktoria Hradek.[11][12] [13][2] For fiscal year 2023 the Hungary unit posted over EUR 8.8 milion.[2] Since its foundation, the company has been a one-person enterprise. By 2024, the company grew into an over 50-person strong head office, with about 120 IT professionals in Hungary and 10 in Austria, and had completed more than 1,000,000 engineering hours of project work by 2020.[14] [15]

History

Early years

2001- Bluebird International started as a one-person company in an apartment office in Budapest, Hungary back in 2001.[16] Initially the company executed development projects in IT. It slowly and gradually expanded operations into other fields as well. In 2007 recruitment services for clients also started. In 2012 the company expanded into neighboring Austria. In 2020 it started fixed-price IT Solutions including web development, applications development, and much more. In April 2023 the company opened its office in Florida, USA.[17][18][19] Moreover, in September, the company opened office an in Dublin, Ireland too.

Beginning of IT Contracting

The earliest of assignments the company did were development projects with the T- companies (Magyar Telecom) in Germany and Hungary in the early 2000s. The introduction of T- brand in Hungary proved to be the start of a new information and communication era in Hungary. Then the company started with its IT Contracting service. Initially, they also carried out fixed-price application development projects, in Java/Oracle environments.

2005

January 2005:
By 2005 the company expanded the scope of its services to include recruitment of tech professionals in addition to Time and Materials (T&M).[16]

2008

2008 - Beginning of IT Recruitment

The company's IT recruitment service fully was established to fulfill the needs of clients for an IT recruiter company with a sound understanding of IT. Since the start of the company, there has been good feedback about Bluebird, 'Finally, a recruitment company that is at home with IT and understands what we are saying.'
Since 2008, the company has filled over 2,000 IT positions for more than 200 clients with experienced IT professionals across various technologies, programming languages, and job roles. 2008 Office Relocation: In January 2008 the company acquired a new office and moved from the apartment office.

2012

2012 saw the start of Bluebird’s expansion into neighboring Austria; the company started providing services to the Austrian market with the name Bluebird Personalberatungs GmbH.[2]
In addition to projects in Germany, The company founded Bluebird Austria in 2012 to serve Austrian orders through an Austrian company.[20] The company generally hires German and English speaking Austrian, Hungarian and other Eastern European experienced tech individuals as employees. The Austria office is located at the Schottenfeldgasse area of Vienna.
Bluebird Austria in collaboration with Austrian IT consultants and with their assistance the company was able to work on projects of many world-renowned clients like T-Systems, Raiffeisen Bank, Erste Bank, BAWAG, Finanzamt, AGES, Payolution, Hutchinson Drei Austria, Scout24.[21]
Encouraged by the success of Bluebird Austria, the company started plans to launch European and American remote and onsite future projects, which were based on their team's expertise.[22] In January 2012 the company moved to its office at MadachSquare, where Bluebird teams would continue to work for another 11 years.

2017

In October 2017 the company for the first time increased team size above 30 people.

2020

2020 - Beginning of IT Solutions

From 2020, Bluebird International conducted fixed-price IT projects under the name IT Solutions, which included web development, custom application development, legacy system assessments and migrations, bot and crawler development, as well as executive IT consulting. Their projects were primarily carried out on React, Java, .NET, PHP, Python platforms, but more importantly, they adapted to keep client's needs and the requirements for the systems in mind.

2021

In January 2021 the number of Bluebird International HQ employees expanded to 50 members, with more people joining the team.

2022

January 2022, the Bluebird International team size increased its size to 100 members.

2023

In March 2023 the company moved to its new office headquarters which is located in the business corridor of Budapest at the H2Offices on Váci Road.
In April 2023 the company started Bluebird Global Inc. in Florida (USA), setting up its presence in North America and the United States.[23] [24]
In September of the same year, Bluebird also set up its office in Dublin Ireland, located at the Greenmount Office Park at Harold’s Cross Road.

2024

2024: New year’s day saw a new CEO at the helm of affairs of Bluebird Hungary, Viktoria Hradek replaced the founder as CEO of the company.[25] [26]
