The Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald Province is one of 20 provinces of the Ancash Region of Peru. It is named after Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald, the rubber tycoon whose life served as an inspiration behind the 1982 film Fitzcarraldo.

Ethnic groups
editThe people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (90.87%) learnt to speak in childhood, 8.65% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]
