From 1660 to 1777 it was a subsidiary title, held by the Duke of Norfolk. The second version of the title was created in 1733. From 1761 to 1782 it was a subsidiary title, held by the Earl Talbot. From 1784 to 1858 it was again a subsidiary title, held by the Earl Talbot. From 1858 to the present it is a subsidiary title, held by the Earl of Shrewsbury.
