This category covers the following nine mountain ranges or massifs:
Göll Massif, Hagen Mountains, Hochkalter Mountains, Hochkönig Massif, Latten Mountains, Reiter Alpe, Steinernes Meer, Untersberg and Watzmann Massif
in the Berchtesgaden Alps. Whilst the Berchtesgadener Land belongs entirely to Germany, several of the massifs in the Berchtesgaden Alps are wholly or partly in Austria.
The boundary for the region is based on the definition of the Eastern Alps and its subdivision into individual ranges according to the Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE). By this definition the Kitzbühel Alps are bounded by the line: Salzach von Salzburg bis Bischofshofen -- Mühlbach -- Trockenbach -- Dientner Sattel -- Filzensattel -- Hintertal -- Urslau -- Saalach bis Salzburg.[1]
