This category is for individual men's basketball season standings templates of the now-defunct Big Eight Conference. The Big Eight dissolved in 1996 when its members joined the newly formed Big 12 Conference. The conference had several names during its existence:

• 1907–1964: Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association
  • 1928–1948: Big Six Conference (unofficial)
  • 1948–1957: Big Seven Conference (unofficial)
  • 1957–1964: Big Eight Conference (unofficial)

Despite its unofficial names, the conference was commonly known by those titles, and thus these templates should reflect common usage.

Note: The Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association dates its existence to 1907. In 1928, the conference was split apart, with two conferences formed, both of which claimed to be the legitimate heir to the MVIAA history. What would become the Missouri Valley Conference retained the same administrative staff. What would ultimately become the Big Eight Conference would retain the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association name. Therefore, seasons between 1907–08 and 1927–28 of the MVIAA will contain both the Missouri Valley Conference AND Big Eight Conference men's basketball seasons as parent categories.
