Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Gold Coast, elected to parliament, (1954–1956). The Legislative Assembly was in place of parliament prior to independence from the United Kingdom. Because of military interventions, Ghana now has a 4th Republic since 7 January 1993. This was Ghana's 1st post independence parliament. Due to the republican constitution creating a one party state, it continued as the 1st Parliament of the 1st Republic. This includes MPs elected in the Ghanaian parliamentary election in 1954 and those subsequently elected in by-elections.
