Following the success of the Imperial Yeomanry in the Second Boer War, all the existing Yeomanry cavalry regiments of the British Army were converted to 'Imperial Yeomanry' in 1901 and new regiments were raised. The 'Imperial' part of the titles was dropped when the Yeomanry were transferred to the Territorial Force in 1908.
