Metropolitan bishops of the Ukrainian Catholic Church from 2005 to the present (i.e. the emergence of an independent Ukraine following the collapse of the Soviet Union). From 1808 to 2005, the church was known as the Ruthenian Uniate Church. The name "Ukrainian Catholic church" has been used popularly and in official Vatican documents since the early 1960s to refer to all Ukrainian Catholics in the diaspora and the underground church in Ukraine. In 2006, the archbishop was raised to a Major Archbishop and the ecclesiastical territory (or metropolis) was renamed to the Major Archeparchy of Kyiv–Galicia.
