So, let's get to it;

The reason I removed Category:6th-century BC Persian people from some articles and redirected it to Category:6th-century BC Iranian people is because of the following reasons:

• 1 - The Category: 6th-century BC Persian people gives limited options compared to the Category:6th-century BC Iranian people. A lot of Iranians weren't Persians (hence why I also did this edit [1], would be like saying that Khwarazmians, Bactrians, Medians, Sogdians etc were Persian).

• 2 - A minor one, but the category was created 3 years (in good faith I assume) after the Category:6th-century BC Iranian people, would have been nice if the editor paid attention to other existing categories before he had done that.

My opinion is that this is not the place for this discussion. Take it to Cfd.

As to the issue itself. This category is a misconception, since standing practice is to have the century categories use the present name of the country, in this case "Iran" instead of "Persia". In addition, this category is not part of any category tree.

The correct way to go forward is to nominated this category Cfd for deletion, which I will happily endorse. It should not be kept and redirected. Please note that the correct procedure is to nominate this category for deletion at Cfd, but not to remove it from any pages till such time as the Cfd discussion is closed.
