Mike Tyson
editDo we need Mike Tyson on this list, it was never proven he raped her. 21:19, 14 April 2007 User:84.26.30.15
- He was convicted of it in court, so the court found him guilty, obviously they felt what they saw was proof of him doing so. Tyciol (talk) 11:33, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Change category name?
editI think it would be more NPOV to call this category Category: Americans convicted for rape or something similar. Similar categories should follow suit. Category names like this are asserting truth based upon court convictions, which is not verifiable due to evidence in such trials being private. All that can be verified is that people were convicted, and then people can draw their own conclusions from this based upon their faith in the justice system. Simply making assertive statements based upon court decisions is biased in the belief that there is no such thing as a false conviction, or that a false conviction does not exist until a court discovers it. I agree, as I too am concerned about the possibility of wrongful convictions. I searched Wikipedia for “exonerated rape”, and this took me to the article Overturned convictions in the United States, which lists many cases of innocent people who were wrongfully convicted of rape (as well as murder, kidnapping and robbery).TheTruth-2009 (talk) 04:46, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Tupac Shakur
editTupac should be added to this list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.63.91.15 (talk) 21:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Why is he included in this category? He wasn’t convicted of rape, nor was he even charged with that. He was convicted of kidnapping and murdering his neighbor Danielle van Dam, and it was suspected that sex was the motive for the kidnapping, but there are alternative theories, and there was no evidence that she was raped, and you can’t state categorically that he raped her based on mere suspicion. Admittedly, the condition of her body - from decomposition and animal feeding - would have destroyed evidence of rape, but it wouldn’t necessarily have destroyed all such evidence. The forensic people tested her body, the leaves around her body, and Westerfield’s clothing and bedding, for sperm and semen, and all their tests were negative; and only a minute quantity of her blood was reported in his environment (one drop and one small faint stain, neither of which was in his house or on his bedding). So, even though they tried, they could find no evidence of an assault, let alone rape. See pages 233-235, 501, 521, 536 and 539-541 of the book “Rush to Judgement” by Stevenson.TheTruth-2009 (talk) 05:12, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
As nobody objected, I have now removed him from this category.TheTruth-2009 (talk) 20:05, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Rapists vs convicted rapists - extraneous categories?
editPlease note that there is also a category for Category:American_people_convicted_of_rape. What if any difference exists between these two categories? How can an individual be categorized as a rapist without formal conviction? It seems that one or the other should probably be merged. 104.15.63.185 (talk) 15:41, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Donald Trump?
editShould he be included on this list? He was not convicted criminally, but was found guilty in civil court. NesserWiki (talk) 05:29, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
