Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is not part of GB..why is NI a sub-category of GB? MrMarmite 22:43, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Northern Ireland isn't part of Great Britain but it is part of the United Kingdom. Since there isn't an adjective to describe things from the United Kingdom, like "UK-ish", people have no choice but to make "British" do to describe anything from the UK. Hence the page is called British, which in this case is taken to mean of the UK rather than just of Great Britain. Cameronlad (talk) 18:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have added Template:Category description because there are no criteria for inclusion or exclusion. Here is a suggestion:

  • In: person whose article includes a verifiable cited claim that the person is considered atheist by a reliable third party. The claim must also contain the word "atheist" or "athesim" somewhere - this helps editors find and verify it.
  • Out: all other articles?

I have just added the text from Category:Atheists as a start for a description. See also old discussion at Wikipedia talk:Categorization/Archive 3#.22What belongs in a category.22 guideline.3F and Wikipedia:Notability (people) and WP:BLP. Does anyone have comments on my proposal to make the criteria more rigorous by insisting on verifiable cites (should arise naturally from Wikipedia:Verifiability)? -84user (talk) 19:17, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
