editDo we really need to be categorizing singers by gender at all? Per Wikipedia:Categorization/Gender, race and sexuality, a special gender, race or sexuality subcategory should only exist if it's possible to write a head article on female singers to explain how they're a distinctly encyclopedic phenomenon separate from singers in general. Is there any real contextual difference to be noted here? Bearcat 19:52, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Personally, I find it very useful to categorize by gender, since 95% of my music collection is by female singers. Listings of female singers are very helpful as far as I am concerned! Anyone else who is especially interested in female singers should also find such a listing useful.
Being Canadian, I also find it very helpful to have a list of Canadian female singers, so I can find out about the ones whom I havn't heard yet. I try to do what I can to support talent here in Canada.
Does this category pertain to groups of female singers? Thinking that this was the case (singer"s" is pluralized), I added Dala to this category. Meesheek 17:38, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Deborah Cox
editI'm wondering why perhaps one of the BEST known singers from Canada is NOT on this list? When I think 'Canadian female vocalists', I think: Celine, Avril, Deborah Cox, and Tamia; yet Deborah is NOT on this list.
I attempted to edit but was unsuccessful. Somebody DEFINITELY needs to add her on here, it's rather disrespectful. Jodevo79 (talk) 11:20, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Melanie Fiona
editCan't believe she's not on the list either. Must NOT be Canadians populating this list. Jodevo79 (talk) 11:23, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jodevo79:She's in two subcategories, specifically Canadian female pop singers and Canadian female singer-songwriters. To see what categories a page is in, you need to look at the bottom of their page at the category list. Bear in mind that category pages are not the same as list articles; they are for grouping and organizing similar pages, and are not meant to be comprehensive standalone lists.
