Common phrase

edit

420 is a very common phrase in India, Nepal, Pakistan, and India. It denotes an untrustworthy person or cheater. Char so Bis or 420 expression must have been brought back with the Hippies who traveled overland on the Hippie Trial in the late 1960s and 1970s. How this expression crossed over is anyones guess. Maybe some Hippies were talking infront of there kids and declared a person 420, and the kids may have taken it as a signal to smoke pot. Ask any person from Nepal or India and they will tell you exactly as I have spoken. I smoke a lot of pot but I am definitely not 420. Joe Pietri author the King of Nepal! 02:07, 23 August 2006

Slang Terms

edit

When I grew up there were a number of slang terms for Marijuana. Among the most common were "13", "M", rope and others I can't remember. The Hells Angles all wore a patch with the number 13 indicating their use and association with Pot. 13 is the numerical position to the letter M in the alphabet. In the olden days. rope, particularly marine dock lines were made from hemp which when burned had the aroma of marijuana. It would be nice to capture this somewhere. Maybe I'll start an article for Marijuana slang along the lines of the 420 article. Gotta get some sources though. -- Cdw ♥'s(talk) 20:59, 12 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
