editWhat about Herbie Hancock? Isn't he a convert to buddhism, too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.196.220.206 (talk • contribs) 17:22, June 1, 2007
Well, he is in Category:American Buddhists. Feel free to, you know, add some references to Herbie Hancock to support these statements... — CharlotteWebb 06:44, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Why is SN Goenka in this list?
editS. N. Goenka would be the first to suggest he has not converted to Buddhism, thus I question the validity of having his name in this list. He has said however that he practices, Dhamma, the teaching of the Buddha. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.32.213.135 (talk) 23:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

editThis is yet another bad category in a long line of bad categories created by User:Hmains. The idea that one has to "convert" to Buddhism to practice it is a Western concept. Clearly, there are many people in this category who were practicing multiple religions, such as Alan Watts, who was an Episcopal priest while also practicing Zen, espousing Taoism, and preaching about Christianity.
