Category talk:Dog breeds task force participants

What would the members say of a sentence about a dog breed which read "This breed was bred for fighting?"

First, is there any breed that was bred for this purpose?

Second, assuming it could be established as fact, should it be noted that even though the breed was bred for fighting, this should not mean that any individual will want to fight? Surely, not all rat terriers will naturally catch rats, even though most probably will. And my cocker spaniel has no interst in flushing birds, and my brother's retriever doesn't want to retrieve. Look at the pit bulls that don't want to fight! Ceasar Milan's famous "Daddy", for example, and my friends dog, Tiva, a gentler soul you'll never find. We know she's bred from fighters, but she's been bred as a housepet.

I see nothing in the dog breed article recomendations that states that a good article should explain the purpose for which the dog was bred and how it is or was used, but all the good articles seem to do this. I don't see why articles about dogs that were bred for fighting should not say so, even if that fact prejudices people against the breed.
