Category redirect
editThere are only two categories with names beginning "Dracaena": Category:Dracaena (plant) and Category:Dracaena (lizard). The former has many times more entries than the latter. So it seems reasonable to me to have a soft category redirect from Category:Dracaena to Category:Dracaena (plant), since this is going to be the correct category in most cases.
This seems to me to be a generally applicable idea: when one disambiguated category is much more widely used than others, a category redirect will help editors. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:09, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Peter coxhead, as explained to you elsewhere, a redirect from an ambiguous title to just one meaning of that title leads to miscategorisation. I explained that to you[1] (with a ping) 13 minutes before your post here, and it's a great pity that yet again you have simply ignored my reply.
- Since there are two extant categories to disambiguate (Category:Dracaena (plant) and Category:Dracaena (lizard)), I have made Category:Dracaena a category disambiguation page.[2]
- I hope that will be an end to your disruptive drama-mongering. Sorry for the blunt language, but my attempts at subtlety have been futile, and I am losing patience with sustained efforts to act without learning. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:26, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, that's another approach (I didn't know there were such things as category disambiguation pages). As for "drama-mongering", I'll leave it to others to judge who is creating a drama out of what should be a sensible discussion. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:29, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Peter coxhead, we could have a sensible discussion if you a) backed off your persistent unilateral actions wrt to categories, even though you acknowledged earlier that you know little about them; b) read replies before launching off on more ill-considered actions. Both are very poor conduct, and are more consistent with a type of trolling than with genuine attempts at problem-solving. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:41, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
