"Combinatorial Game Theory" is a branch of mathematics that is completely separate from and unrelated to "Game Theory" (counterintuitive though that may seem), and therefore it does not belong here as a subcategory!

Is Category:Rational choice theory a subset of Category:Game theory, or vice-versa? --75.39.248.28 17:59, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's a bit complicated. Game theory as a normative enterprise is certainly a branch of rational choice theory. Game theory as an empirical study of animal (incl. human) behavior is similar to rational choice theory, but probably not properly a subset of rational choice theory. I don't think you'll find anyone that says rational choice theory is a subset of game theory, however; if one is contained by the other game theory is contained in rational choice theory. --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 20:19, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
