Ghost town parameters

What is a ghost town, exactly? If a town was once a thriving supply center and is now a few scattered homes with ten people living on some road in the middle of nowhere, doesn't that constitute a ghost town? Or, are we talking a town that no longer exists in anyway, maybe some ruins?
