I'm not Greek
editI'm not Greek at all. Not in heritage or even slightly. Why am I on this list? --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 18:52, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well that was a bit of a puzzle. It appears when the User:InfinityAndBeyond/Userboxes/Hungarianancestry userbox was created, it was copied from a Greek userbox, then modified [1]. They forgot to change the categorization, so everyone with that userbox was added to Category:Greek Wikipedians. Fixed now [2]. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:15, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
My Hungarian ancestry and I thank you! --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 19:31, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- You're both welcome. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:12, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Template's code edit and consequences
editThe Greek nationality template had been coded in, as I at least grasp it, a wrong way.
The setting of category was being done outside the userbox template.
I.e. as understand it, users were hence not being added to
this group-category.
Moreover some users (including me) had copied-used this text-code
{{User Greek nationality}}
instead of this one
{{Template:User Greek nationality}}
to their page.
I don't know if this caused them to be listed here (I hadn't been) but since I've now changed the template's code, the people listed here have become much fewer.
So people if you want to belong to this category add the text to your pages in its entirety(see above).
I think this will do the trick though I'm not sure it is indeed needed.
If you think or I know I'm wrong etc (in example in how the code works) please comment etc.
FYI I will leave a copy of this message at the aforementioned template's talk page.
