The term historical painters is generally used interchangably with history painters, and seems to be slightly more common. (Note that most Google books hits for "history painters" actually derive from "Art history. Painters"). It is not restricted to those performing so-called "historical painting" (as a subset of history painting) only. Fram (talk) 10:16, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
