Potassium Hypochlorite and Zinc Hypochlorite

According to a poorly remembred article in Groliers (or similar) Encyclopedia of the mid 1950's, the originally titled Eau de Javelle was a potassium hypochlorite water solution. The strength/concentration was not defined in the article.

Zinc Hypochlorite is alledgedly made by "distillation" of a water solution of zinc chloride. The surplus water evaporates of until a bound water combination of the two (zinc chloride + water) react as a result of the heat applied and the resulting hypochlorite sublimates and subsequently condenses as a solid. Refer to the perification process for ammonium chloride for similarities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.100.198.100 (talk) 21:21, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
