editWouldn't it be better to bring this category together with Category:Immune system? Nina 19:11, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)
No. Immune System is part of a broader category of Immunology. Is Category:Nervous system to absorb Category:Neurology?--ZayZayEM 13:44, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- [1]: I favour absorption into *ology.216.234.170.79 15:46, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- I found this talk page in the category, and I don't think it should be there. A colon leading a category will link to it without putting the page you are on into that category, so I changed User:ZayZayEM's comments appropriately. Brewhaha@edmc.net 06:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
The Category Issue
editI am beginning to lean towards one category for both, with Immune system as the parent. The problem is that it is difficult to decide (for me at least) which pages belong in Category:Immunology and which ones belong in Category:Immune system. Perhaps a bit of input from others would be useful in deciding which articles should go in which category. From the cat headings:
"Immunology is the study of the immune system and its reaction to pathogens...The medical field that deals with these diseases is called clinical immunology"
--and--
"The immune system refers to all of the cells, tissues, organs and processes that protect an organism from invasion by pathogens. Viruses, bacteria, parasites, and some toxins are some of pathogens that the immune system is involved in eliminating from the body."
So it would seem to me that all of the immune system diseases, techniques and immunologists should be in Immunology. While all of descriptive pages for cell types, cytokines, pathways, and receptors should go in Immune system? Any thoughts? - They're both Immunology. One is Chemistry and Anatomy within the discipline of study or within the medical discipline. I think they can be considered both subcategories of Immunology and supercategories of it. IOW, much Chemistry and Anatomy would fit under Immunology, and a lot more topics (including Immunology) would fit under Chemistry and Anatomy. I'm running into synonyms in Neurology, too. - I agree with DO11. Anything in Immune System is immunology; but the reverseis not true. Immunology should remain as parent category. Category:Immune system should only contain "cells, tissues, organs and processes that protect an organism from invasion". --ZayZayEM 07:35, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
